UniCluster 4.1 is here!
UniCluster 4.1 includes expanded systems management functionality that
automates repetitive and homegrown administrative tasks, significantly
reducing time to value and TCO for cluster owners.

About UniCluster
UniCluster is an integrated cluster management software stack that
consolidates best-of-breed open source technologies to provide
everything needed to run applications on a cluster.
ComponentsUniCluster integrates components like Grid Engine, Ganglia and Globus into a single open source software tool:
Integrated, One-Step Installer
UniCluster provides a streamlined installer that delivers the complete set of solution components in a single, easy process.
Policy-Based Job Scheduling
UniCluster includes robust job management via Sun Grid Engine (SGE), a
widely deployed open source scheduler that features powerful and
configurable, policy- based resource allocation, with useful defaults
right out of the box.
Extensive Monitoring
With UniCluster it’s easy to monitor cluster performance and diagnose
problems. In addition to job monitoring from SGE, UniCluster includes
robust real-time system-level monitoring based on Ganglia, a scalable
distributed monitoring system for efficiently collecting system-level
information (such as CPU load averages, memory utilization, and I/O
rates) from all machines comprising the cluster. UniCluster also
integrates seamlessly with SGE job accounting.
Efficient Data Management
UniCluster provides integrated components for efficiently and reliably
managing distributed data. UniCluster's data management tools include
Globus GridFTP, a high-performance, secure, reliable data transfer
protocol optimized for high-bandwidth wide-area networks, and Globus
Reliable File Transfer (RFT), a Web service that reliably manages file
transfers and tracks data transfer status.
Robust Grid Services
UniCluster utilizes open source Globus software components for building
robust, secure grid systems and applications. Proven in production and
operating some of the largest clusters and grids on the planet, Globus
is the framework for UniClusters’ remote access and federation services
and includes GridFTP, Reliable File Transfer (RFT), WS-GRAM, MyProxy
and GSI-OpenSSH.
Why UniCluster?
UniCluster is the open source alternative to traditional
proprietary/commercial cluster software. UniCluster goes beyond the
bounds of these tools to provide integrated installation of multiple
components, monitoring and analytics capabilities, and support available

install unicluster in Suse 10.2
I would interested of installing unicluster in Suse version, because I used to be this version. Will I be able to do it?.
UniCluster 4.x is currently
UniCluster 4.x is currently only supported on Redhat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, and Oracle Enterprise Linux. UniCluster 5 will add support for some new platforms and operating systems, however I cannot say whether SUSE will be one of those yet.
Data Sheet...
Hi,
I´m a newbie in unicluster, and I want to download the data sheet (UniCluster+4.0+Test+Drive+Data+Sheet.pdf), but the link seems to be broken... or I have some kind of problem ?
Thanks
Flavio
Broken Data Sheet link
Try downloading the data sheet from here:
http://www.univaud.com/about/resources/files/ds-unicluster4_0.pdf
Thanks !!
This link works fine to me !
Thanks a lot !
Flavio
still need the data sheet?
Let me know if that doesn't work and I can email you the .pdf.
Broken Data Sheet link
Hmmm, 'It works for me' (I'm sure you expected that response). When I click on the link it downloads the pdf. Can you tell me what type of browser you are using? I'm using a Mac with Safari - so I'm not particularly using a common browser.
Version of Grid Engine and Globus?
Howdy,What versions of Grid Engine and Globus are included with Unicluster 4? It appears from the "install-kit-SGE" command that SGE 6.1-4 is the version, however it'd be nice to have the versions listed on the Unicluster 4 page.I'm not sure which kit inlcudes Globus. Also, the PDF linked on this page comes up as page not found(http://groups.grid.org/system/files/UniCluster%2B4.0%2BTest%2BDrive%2BDa...)
Versions Of Thirdparty Software
As tell stated, the grid kit is based on UniCluster 3.2 which was based on GT 4.0.5. The current version of SGE is 6.1u4 but we are looking at upgrading that to 6.2 shortly.
Version of Grid Engine and Globus
Hi,
Thanks for the comment. I'll log a bugzilla to include versions when a kit is installed in unicluster, and place the version number on the cluster webpage.
in the meantime there are a couple of ways to find out the version number:
1) have a look at the yum repository directly at http://peaches.grid.org/unicluster/unicluster_repo
There you can find all of the rpms associated with everything installed in the cluster the rpm 'usually' contains the proper version number for a tool/package.
2) Most of the kit rpms also contain a proper version number (but not unfortunately for the Globus one). You can get the list of available kits with the command:
# yum list unicluster-kit-*
Finally,
The Grid kit is in the kit named unicluster-kit-grid so do a:
# yum install unicluster-kit-grid
to install it. The version of Globus in that kit is 4.0.5 modified. I say 'modified' because we made some fixes modifications to the stock Globus distribution.
source code for the software
where can i get source code for the software so that i can see how it works!!!
please do reply n give me a link
The source
The sourcecode for UniCluster 4.1 can be found in the Tortuga project on sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tortuga/
Thanks for the src. I was
Thanks for the src.
I was also interested in perusing the code for this brilliant piece of software.
Whenever i stumble upon such a crafted computer program i'm always curious to learn how it was made.
